No — and that “no” is the foundation everything else stands on. You encrypt the media before shipment. We do not ask for, receive, or store your password or recovery key. We couldn’t decrypt your files if we wanted to.
FAQ
Secure offline storage questions, answered plainly.
The hardest questions are the ones that define the service. We answer them the way we’ve learned to — directly, without hedging. If an answer makes you pause, that pause is doing its job.
ALL QUESTIONS
Know the boundary.
Encryption & keys
We cannot recover it. That is the honest price of zero knowledge — and we’d rather tell you now than surprise you later. Write it down. Keep it somewhere safe and separate from the stored media. This is the one responsibility that stays entirely yours.
No. The service is guide-only for encryption so that plaintext and keys never cross the custody boundary.
Media & intake
The primary and backup can be stored separately, reducing single-site physical-loss risk. This does not protect against a lost encryption key.
Everkeep records the manufacturer serial number, assigns a custody number, applies a numbered seal, photographs the sealed media and records the separate storage locations.
No. There is no online upload, browser or remote download. Everkeep holds customer-owned encrypted physical media offline.
Access, pricing & instructions
Yes. Request permanent return, a controlled temporary loan, or a supervised reading-room session.
Custody continues and the instruction pauses. Silence never authorizes forwarding or destruction.
Annual custody is CAD 187 per device slot. Physical custody cost depends on the object and its handling, not on data capacity, and per-slot pricing avoids asking what or how much you store.
You get a full refund within 30 days of payment, no questions asked. If your drives are already in our vault, we'll ship them back — you just cover the return shipping cost. After 30 days, the standard annual terms apply.
We never email receipts — on purpose, so a proof of purchase never sits in an inbox anyone else could open. Yours is saved in your Everkeep account instead: sign in with the email you paid with (if you have not set a password yet, claim the account first from the sign-in page), open Billing, and you can view and download your receipt there at any time.
Use the “Forgot your password?” link on the sign-in page and enter the email you signed up (or paid) with. We will send a password-reset email from Account Service with the subject “Reset your password” — check your spam folder if you do not see it. The link is valid for 24 hours and can only be used once; if it has expired, request a new one the same way. Note: this resets only your account sign-in password. It cannot recover your media encryption password — we never held that one, and nobody can restore it. If you no longer have access to the email address on the account, self-service recovery is not possible — contact us from the contact page and we will verify your identity another way.
