We’ve learned the cleanest boundary is also the simplest. You choose the media and encrypt it — the password never leaves your hands. Everkeep handles everything physical: intake, verification, sealing, and separate storage. Encryption is your job. Custody is ours.
Encrypt both copies yourself
Use full-volume encryption and keep the password and recovery information somewhere safe and separate — somewhere that isn’t the drive itself. Seneca wrote that we suffer more in imagination than in reality; a written-down recovery key, stored apart, turns imagined disaster into a solved problem.
Package and ship
Follow the intake guide, record the device serial numbers, and send both copies to your designated receiving address. Five intake centers worldwide — New York, Toronto, Tokyo, Beijing, Seoul — and we confirm the nearest one when you enroll.
Intake, number and photograph
Everkeep records each manufacturer serial number, assigns an EK-YYYY-NNNN custody number, applies a numbered seal and photographs the sealed media.
Separate offline custody
The primary and backup are stored in different locations. Facility security is monitored; the media stays disconnected from every network.
